The Circulatory Centers was founded in 1979 by William G. Katz, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board certified vascular surgeon. Over the past decade we have seen tremendous advances in the treatment of varicose veins. The patient whose only option might once have been "vein-stripping" can now expect safe, nearly painless elimination of problem veins. The physicians at The Circulatory Centers have led the way for many of the advances in varicose vein treatment. Dr. Katz was one of the pioneers in the use of sclerotherapy and also perfected a highly successful out-patient surgical procedure for the small percentage of patients who needed it. After, completing a five year residency in general surgery, Dr. Certo joined the St. Francis Medical Center staff in 1988, UMPS St. Margaret Memorial Hospital staff in 1990 and St. Francis Hospital Cranberry in 1998. Board certified in general surgery, Dr. Certo is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been a staff surgeon for The Circulatory Centers since 1997.
